Regarding the effect of preconceptions on the understanding of texts, various views have been expressed in the schools of interpretation and hermeneutics. These views affect the interpretation of religious texts, including the Holy Quran. These different views are caused by different answers to questions such as the origin of meaning, its intentionality and what is understanding. To examine and measure these views, we can refer to other areas that have researched understanding and recognition. One of these fields is Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development. In this research, by referring to Piaget's works and analyzing his theory of cognitive development, the interpretative consequences of this theory were explained and it was clarified that the preconceptions of the interpreter and the reader of the text affect the understanding of the texts. But this effect is not inevitable and must be achieved through continuous interaction with the text to the meaning hidden in it. Because the origin of the meaning is the author, and in fact beyond the mind of the reader, there is a meaning that the purpose of understanding and interpreting is to achieve that meaning
